Organization Cytopathology Job Summary Performs microscopic detection and diagnosis of cancer, premalignant changes, and other non‑neoplastic diseases, and assists with fine needle aspiration procedures under occasional guidance. Responsible for the accurate performance of laboratory tests and other duties in a manner that complies with all approved protocols. Utilizes critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to assure accurate and reliable clinical outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provides patient‑focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate microscopic evaluation of cell samples from gynecologic and non‑gynecologic specimens to enable a diagnosis and assists with fine needle aspiration collection. Actively participates in compliance and quality management activities on a daily basis and special projects as indicated. Effectively use laboratory computer programs and medical center applications according to laboratory policies and procedures. Technical Capabilities Patient Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to conduct a patient evaluation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Capable of effectively assessing the relative merits of alternative products or services. Diagnostic Testing (Novice): Demonstrates proficiency of diagnostic testing in practical applications. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results.
