Lead Curriculum Developer-EDTech and Science

Primary Purpose The Lead Curriculum Developer serves as the network‑level content authority for an assigned primary content area across a portfolio of 14 to 19 PK–5. In partnership with the Primary Managing Directors and Academic Strategy and Support team, this role leads the creation of original, IB‑aligned curriculum systems, supplemental instructional resources, and assessment tools that drive coherent, vertically aligned instruction across all campuses. The Lead Curriculum Developer manages a portfolio of curriculum initiatives, ensures alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and IB Programme Standards, and collaborates with peer Lead Curriculum Developers to maintain cross‑content coherence. This is a mid-senior level role focused on curriculum systems design. All curriculum, assessments, and instructional resources are designed with integrated support for emergent bilingual learners as a baseline expectation, not as a supplemental add‑on. Duties/Responsibilities Curriculum Architecture and Development (50%) Execute and manage the assigned content area vision and curriculum system for network-wide implementation across 14 to 19 PK–5 Coach and advise campus leaders on content-specific instructional priorities, and collaborate with peer Lead Curriculum Developers (Math, Science, Dual Language) to ensure curriculum alignment with IB Programme Standards and Practices, vertical alignment across grade bands, and cross-content coherence Embed linguistic scaffolding, vocabulary development, and language-rich instructional routines into every unit and assessment as standard design practice. Ensure content-area language demands are explicitly identified and addressed so that EB students access grade-level content alongside their peers Help teachers develop a deep understanding of and deconstruct TEKS and ELPS for their grade level and content area, with particular attention to supporting emergent bilingual students Ensure all curriculum development aligns with current research and evidence-based instructional strategies, incorporating supports for multilingual learners Participate in and facilitate curriculum review committees with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders Apply educational theory and research to inform curriculum development decisions and recommendations Intervention and Support Systems (15%) Co‑plan with the Multilingual Programs Team and Data team across all assigned campuses to align Tier 2 interventions (tutorials) and resources with Tier 1 curriculum, ensuring all students can access and master grade-level content Design curricular support materials that support differentiated instruction and intervention strategies in a cohesive manner Create assessment tools and rubrics for measuring curriculum effectiveness Data and Quality Assurance (20%) Work with Data Team to analyze curriculum effectiveness across all campuses in the portfolio and track progress toward network-wide instructional goals Use assessment data to inform curriculum revisions and improvements, with particular attention to emergent bilingual student outcomes and language development progress Establish quality assurance processes for curriculum materials and resources Analyze student achievement data, teaching strategies, and curriculum effectiveness to make data‑driven recommendations Clearly communicate curriculum changes and teaching standards to school staff through professional development and training sessions Professional Development and Field Alignment (15%) Supports network-wide assessment initiatives, including administration of content-area benchmark assessments and state assessment preparation across all assigned campuses Engage in cross‑functional content cohorts and leadership learning communities to stay current on instructional best practices and align with network academic priorities Design professional development that builds teacher capacity to deliver high-quality, linguistically responsive instruction across all classrooms, reinforcing the expectation that every teacher is an EB teacher Leads content-specific professional development for campus leaders and teachers, and partners with the Academic team through regular leadership walkthroughs and calibration sessions Conduct regular campus visits across the full portfolio to observe implementation of curriculum and curricular resources and gather feedback from stakeholders (teachers, interventionists, administrators) to adjust and improve curricular supports Education Requirements Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university required Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field preferred Experience with curriculum writing and inquiry-based instruction required Must have a valid Texas Teacher Certification with endorsement in Bilingual and/or ESL education International Baccalaureate experience preferred Experience Requirements Minimum five years of classroom teaching experience in an elementary content area Additional experience in a coaching, school leadership, full-time Intervention, ESL, or Dual Language role preferred Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, design, and coaching campus leaders on content-area instructional practice Experience with standards alignment, vertical curriculum mapping, and managing a portfolio of concurrent curriculum projects Experience developing aligned Intervention materials Experience utilizing TEKS and ELPS and their formal connections to State Assessments Demonstrated and measurable student achievement on state assessments Understanding of IB instructional and planning practices preferred Required Skills/Abilities Deep knowledge of content-area pedagogy, educational theory and research, and evidence-based strategies for supporting diverse learners including emergent bilingual and multilingual students Expertise in TEKS standards and curriculum alignment Proficiency in assessment design and data analysis Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for evaluating curriculum effectiveness Strong project management and organizational skills Excellent written communication and documentation skills Excellent attention to detail, familiarity with common creative tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva) Instructional leadership coaching skills, including the ability to build capacity in campus administrators and leadership teams Competency in Microsoft Office applications and curriculum management software Ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders
