Job Description
This role supports structural repairs, modifications, and fabrication on a variety of helicopter platforms within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station. The Sheet Metal Technician performs sheet metal and composite repairs, installations, and structural modifications while ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications, FAA regulations, and internal quality standards. Candidates with helicopter experience are preferred, though those with fixed-wing aircraft structural repair experience are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
Perform sheet metal and structural repairs on aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with approved data and procedures.
Fabricate, modify, and install sheet metal parts using aircraft drawings, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.
Carry out composite repairs, alterations, and rework as required to support aircraft structural integrity.
Install structural modification and upgrade kits on helicopter and other aircraft platforms.
Assist with aircraft disassembly and reassembly, including the installation of structural components and assemblies.
Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and airworthiness standards.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and technical publications to plan and execute work.
Document maintenance activities accurately and completely, including required forms, logs, and records.
Support other maintenance departments as needed and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Use appropriate tools and techniques such as drilling, riveting, fitting, and structural assembly to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
Participate in aircraft modification projects, including layout, fabrication, and installation of structural and composite components.
Follow FAA Part 145 repair station procedures and company policies while performing all maintenance activities.
Essential Skills
Minimum 4+ years of aircraft sheet metal, structures, or composite repair experience required; 5–10 years of experience preferred.
Proven experience performing aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and fabrication work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical publications.
Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, including drilling, riveting, fitting, and structural assembly.
Familiarity with aircraft sheet metal repair techniques, including layout, fabrication, and installation.
Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a maintenance environment.
Experience working in an FAA-regulated maintenance environment preferred.
Experience with helicopter or rotary-wing aircraft structures preferred.
Military aircraft structures experience will be considered and is viewed favorably.
Practical experience with composite repairs preferred, including work with honeycomb and related materials.
Comfort working in an MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) environment focused on aviation and airframe structures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with aircraft assembly and structural installation tasks, including use of rivets, hi-loks, and related fasteners.
Experience in aviation maintenance with exposure to airframe repair, modification, and return-to-service processes.
Hands-on experience working with helicopter structures and components.
Familiarity with aircraft layout, blueprint reading, and structural planning for modifications and repairs.
Experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station or similar regulated maintenance operation.
Exposure to composite structures and repairs, including honeycomb construction and rework.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with maintenance, avionics, and quality teams on aircraft projects.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in an aviation environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in an FAA Part 145 maintenance operation focused on rotary-wing aircraft. The role involves regular collaboration with maintenance, avionics, and quality teams to support aircraft return-to-service activities. Work is performed around active aircraft, structural assemblies, and composite components, using standard aviation tools and equipment such as drills, rivet guns, layout tools, and precision measuring instruments. The setting is fast-paced and project-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to documented procedures.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $93600.00/yr.
