Surgical Services Patient Liaison

The Surgical Services Patient Liaison serves as the frontline representative between surgery patients, family members, medical staff, surgeons, and hospital support staff to ensure services provided on the day of the patient's surgery are correct based on identified patient care orders, and the needs and overall coordination of care is completed efficiently and in a timely manner to ensure the patient is prepared for surgery without delay. The liaison also assists the patient's family members with technical assistance and patient's status updates information while surgery is in progress.

The Surgical Services Patient Liaison is required to have an associate degree in business administration, or related field. A high school diploma/GED equivalent and additional relevant administrative work experience can be considered on a year-for-year basis in lieu of degree requirement. A minimum of three (3) years of administrative work experience preferably in a hospital or outpatient healthcare setting is required. Basic Life Support/CPR (BLS/CPR) certification is required and must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire/transfer date.

Preferred qualifications include a basic understanding of medical terminology, basic working knowledge of commonly known computer applications, such as Microsoft Office, demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, demonstrated ability to work independently without direct supervision, and demonstrated ability to perform public speaking when needed.

The Venice campus is currently undergoing an expansion that will double the hospital's capacity when complete in 2024.
