Gas Meter Installer / Field Technician/ Company Vehicle

Pay: $22/hour

Job Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

We are seeking Meter Technicians to join our gas meter replacement project. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a hands-on, stable career path with long-term growth potential in the energy industry. We provide all OQ training, certifications, uniforms, and equipment required to perform the job.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions for up to 10 hours/day
• Safely remove and install gas meters using provided tools
• Replace gas regulators when required
• Check and identify gas leaks on meter sets; safely turn customer gas supplies on/off
• Perform final meter tests and collect installation data using a handheld device
• Conduct shut down and relighting of customer gas appliances (water heaters, etc.)
• Accurately track workflow and CO2 testing data for utility records
• Communicate professionally with utility customers on-site
• Meet daily productivity targets:
• Start with 4–5 changeouts/day during training
• Ramp up to ~10/day in summer and ~8/day in winter

Schedule:

• 6–8 weeks of fully paid training
• Summer: 4-day/10-hour schedule
• Fall & Winter: 5-day/8-hour schedule

Qualifications:

• HVAC or mechanical experience preferred
• Comfortable with physical work in crawl spaces, attics, and outdoor environments
• Experience using hand tools
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
• 12-month contract with opportunity for permanent hire
