Description Horticultural Manager Position Summary The Horticultural Manager is responsible for leading and supporting horticultural excellence throughout the Florida Region. This position provides technical expertise, training, quality assurance, and operational support to ensure landscapes are maintained to the highest industry standards while promoting sustainable practices and exceptional client satisfaction. The Horticultural Manager partners closely with Branch Managers, Account Managers, Production Teams, and clients to develop and implement best practices in plant health care, integrated pest management, irrigation efficiency, and landscape enhancement strategies. - Serve as the regional subject matter expert in horticulture and plant health care.
- Conduct routine landscape quality inspections and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement horticultural standards, procedures, and best management practices.
- Provide training and mentorship to Account Managers, Production Managers, Crew Leaders, and field personnel.
- Diagnose plant health issues including diseases, nutrient deficiencies, pests, and environmental stressors.
- Recommend and oversee corrective actions to improve landscape appearance and health.
- Support enhancement projects through plant selection, design recommendations, and installation guidance.
- Collaborate with irrigation teams to promote water-efficient landscape management.
- Assist in developing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of horticultural trends, products, and regulatory requirements affecting Florida landscapes.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to strengthen relationships and provide technical expertise.
- Support business development initiatives by assisting with proposals, site evaluations, and landscape assessments.
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of five (3) years of progressive horticultural or landscape management experience.
- Experience managing ornamental landscapes in Florida is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in commercial landscape maintenance is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of tropical and subtropical plant materials, common to Florida.
- Understanding of integrated pest management principles.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and water management practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train, coach, and develop field teams.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and landscape management software.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- FNGLA Certified Landscape Technician or Certified Horticulture Professional (CHP) preferred.
- ISA Certified Arborist preferred.
- State pesticide license or ability to obtain within an established timeframe.
- Valid driver's license (3 + years) with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to walk job sites over uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, common to Florida.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent travel throughout the assigned region.
