License: 7-12 Science, ELAD preferred

Note: This position begins the 2026-2027 school year.

Salary Range: $53,283.00 to $83,813.00. Employer-paid retirement, health and life insurance, sick leave benefits and personal leave.

Summary: Teach one or more subjects to students in public schools by performing the following duties. The teacher will implement into daily student instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on the Nevada State Standards and the Carson School District expectations. The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs and goals. This person will be expected to adhere to the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer appropriate district curriculum, which is aligned with the Nevada State Standards.
  • Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
  • Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
  • Develop and implement the components of an effective lesson for instruction.
  • Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
  • Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times.
  • Ensure assessment regulations and guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
  • Work professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community.
  • Integrate technology into the instructional program.
  • Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned.
  • Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Assigns lessons and corrects homework.
  • Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Keeps attendance records.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as handbooks and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and staff.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of student information software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: State of Nevada Teacher's license, current driver's license, original social security card. Certified in relevant subject area.
