Maintenance Worker

This role maintains the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum and funeral home locations, performing maintenance and interment tasks. Responsibilities Cut grass, maintain lawn, and trim around trees, walkways, and memorial markers. Lay sod and move and remove flowers to and from chapel and graveside. Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways, including snow removal when required. Erect tents, canopies, and arrange chairs for graveside ceremonies. Assist with setup for openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments. Arrange chapel for services and prepare crypts for entombments. Operate backhoe to dig graves under supervision, ensuring no damage to vaults, markers, or monuments. Install grave markers, bronze memorials, crypt faces, and other cemetery features. Maintain and repair existing markers and other cemetery features. Maintain, service, clean, and properly store equipment. Perform general maintenance of vehicles and the facility, including minor repairs and painting. Observe safety rules and ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and safety and environmental guidelines. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Operate hand‑held tools and equipment, including shovels, picks, rakes, sledge hammers, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and leaf blowers. Accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures and yard‑sticks. Walk and stand for long periods of time. Lift up to 150 pounds with equipment assistance. Push and pull up to 300 pounds. Communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel, and client families. Work in extreme weather conditions. Adapt to changing work schedules and multitask. Basic computer skills to retrieve and respond to email communications. Minimum Requirements Education: High school education or equivalent. Experience: Minimum 6 months of relevant experience. Compensation: $18.00–$25.00 per hour.
