Director of Accounting – Land Development Houston | Hybrid (2 Days In Office) $165,000 Base + 20% Bonus I'm partnering with a well-capitalized real estate organization that is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead the accounting function for a portfolio of Land Development projects. This is a rare leadership opportunity created by a long-tenured accounting leader's retirement.

MUST HAVES

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA required 6+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of and experience in "Land Development accounting" and project accounting. Previous leadership experience managing accounting professionals Prior public accounting experience is highly preferred This role is ideal for someone who enjoys partnering with operations, development, and executive leadership while overseeing complex project accounting, capital funding, and financial reporting for multiple active developments. What You'll Do Lead the accounting and financial reporting for multiple land development projects and related entities. Partner closely with development, operations, and finance leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Review project funding activity, lender draw packages, capital requests, and cash flow planning. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP. Review complex accounting transactions, project capitalization, acquisitions/dispositions, and entity-level activity. Coordinate annual audits, tax support, and relationships with external auditors, lenders, and other third parties. Provide leadership, mentoring, and development to the accounting team. Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiencies. Why This Opportunity?
