Utility Underground Groundman ID: 1712 Location: Beaufort, SC Department: Utility TheUtility Underground Groundman is semi-skilled in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground distribution systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Work new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized overhead and underground distribution systems based off receiving and following directions Maintains and safely operates company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order Able to perform rigorous physical labor outside and in inclement weather Capable of working in confined spaces These duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change to meet the priorities and ongoing needs of the company. Qualifications and Requirements: Advanced ability to read and understand work orders, instructions, and procedures Understands equipment set up and grounding Highly proficient in critical thinking, trouble shooting, and problem resolution skills General knowledge of OSHA standards and guidelines for energized and de-energized working conditions Capable of active listening and communicate effectively (written, verbal, and nonverbal) Requires self-motivation, and organization High School Diploma or equivalent Technical degree, 0-2 years’ field experience, extensive mechanical ability, or combination of education and/or experience CDL A or the ability to obtain OSHA Certifications Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb; lifts and carry up to 60 lbs, crawl, kneel, push and reach; use hands to fingers, handle, and feel. Work Environment: In performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
