Shift: Day (10:00 AM 6:30 PM) Sunday - Thursday
Summary: As part of the team, the Facilities (CSA) Specialist ensures the facility's
maintenance over the weekend and monitors and directs the clients in all areas of the
program site. The facilities include an admin building, case management building, dining
building, laundry facilities, hygiene facilities, guard booth, and 155 cabins (135 single
and 20 double). This role involves completing any maintenance duties left from the
Facilities Manager and performing minor level repairs to all buildings in the shelter. If
there is no maintenance work to be done, the Facilities (CSA) Specialist will take on the
responsibilities of a CSA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform minor maintenance and repair in carpentry, plumbing, and sewage (includes clearing of stoppage) to ensure clients wellbeing.
- Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed, including fire safety and emergency evacuation.
- Safeguarding agency assets, including materials, tools, and equipment
- Assisting with relocation of furniture, general clean-up at facilities.
- Respond to maintenance requests from clients and staff in a timely and courteous manner.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and safety drills.
- Maintain sustained concentration and mental focus sufficient to perform essential job functions accurately and safely.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in time-sensitive or high-stress situations.
- Monitor and facilitate the transition of guests/clients from the intake areas to shelter/cabins; provide tour of dining, counseling, meeting and/or classroom areas.
- Keep safety watch day and night (per assigned shift) and lead conflict resolution should issues requiring intervention arise.
- Assist guests/clients when needed.
- Escalate any observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults, and elder/senior citizens to Managements attention.
- Help clients access stored possessions (if any) and process their exit from the facility as required.
- Receive, process, distribute, and store donation items received from the public.
- Disinfect and clean assigned shelter beds/cabins while facilitating the movement of client belongings from one location to another.
- Perform facility cleaning and maintenance, including facility cleanup.
- Write clear and legible daily activity logs and incident reports.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Perform other tasks as necessary as assigned or requested by the Site Supervisor, Facilities Manager, and Program Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:
1 Year Minimum Experience
In A Hands-On-Property Preservation Position, Performing Basic Maintenance And Repairs In Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, And Custodial Tasks;
And Knowledge Of, And Ability To, Safely Move Heavy Furniture And Equipment Without Injury, As Well As Custodial And/or Janitorial Practice In A Large Facility.
Preferred Experience
6 months with working with proven experience, preferably in social services or shelter environment
Language Skills: Independent and effective fluency in the English language. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiple and divide with 10s and 100s.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of a computer or tablet and accompanying applications and software. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA drivers license, DMV record check, and proof of auto insurance are required. First Aid, and NARCAN certification preferred.
Working Conditions: Ability to work indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. This position requires you to work weekends and holidays.

- May be asked to work various day and swing shifts.

- Ability to conduct effective bag checks from clients.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
