Aide/LPN Position

Marshall County Schools is seeking an Aide/LPN to support students at McNinch Primary and other locations. The anticipated start date is August 26, 2026, with a contract of approximately 200 days. The position involves assisting students with various needs, including special education and health care. The Aide/LPN will work under the supervision of teachers and principals to provide a supportive learning environment.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Meeting children at designated bus stops/schools and helping them to school/bus
• Collecting and turning over items left on the bus by students
• Alerting teachers/administrators to any problems or special information about children
• Assisting students designated to be special education or special needs students
• Performing tasks as required by the teacher, such as making copies
• Assisting children with feeding, toileting, lifting, and dressing
• Helping students prepare for school in the morning/evening
• Working with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher
• Distributing and collecting instructional materials
• Reading to students and participating in oral communication
• Assisting with lunch, snack, and routine clean up
• Developing bulletin boards and instructional materials
• Assisting with media center and library activities
• Working with individual students under the direction of a teacher
• Making reports, recording data, administering tests, etc.
• Performing care procedures for impaired students
• Maintaining ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information
• Implementing specialized health care plans
• Demonstrating the ability to remain calm and respond objectively to various situations
• Providing behavior management techniques in crisis situations
• Assisting with maintaining a structured learning environment
• Following lesson plans for instructional, social, academic, and emotional skills
• Performing various duties as assigned by the principal and/or county director

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Pass the approved WV Service Personnel Test for Aide
• Completed a state-board approved LPN program and passed the LPN licensing examination
• Current CPR/AED training
• Ability to communicate with adults, follow instructions, accept supervision, and work with children
• Capability to lift and maneuver wheelchairs up/down ramps
• Ability to handle and care for wheelchairs, braces, crutches, etc.
• Ability to administer medication to students with written directions from the attending physician, written parental consent, and proper identification
• Training and experience leading to successful employment as an aide
• Supervisory skills to act as a supervisory aide if needed
• Meet health requirements set by WV Code and local policy
• Ability to independently lift and toilet children 50-150 pounds and over

Salary is based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule, plus a competitive benefits package.
