CNC Machinist II

The Machinist II is proficient with the machine in their assigned area and requires minimal supervision. This position requires a HAAS VF-2 machinist. Duties include troubleshooting basic machine issues, reading and interpreting drawings with GD&T, generating tool paths manually or using Siemens NX CAM, and setting up jobs with minimal oversight. Responsibilities Upon receiving drawings and work orders, determine the manufacturing approach (manual or CAM) and generate G‑Code if necessary before machining. Ensure proper machine setup, pull the correct tools, materials, and documents, follow machine work instructions, and maintain quality throughout the setup. Maintain machine cleanliness, tool condition, and inspection gauge calibration; perform preventive maintenance checks. Machine parts and fixtures to meet specifications and quality criteria; maintain proficiency on the HAAS VF‑2 with HRT210. Measure parts, offset the machine as needed, deburr parts, and store tools, parts, and inspection equipment properly; complete time cards. Collaborate with inspectors to verify first article parts and assist with root‑cause analysis for safety and quality issues. Continuously improve procedures, processes, and methods to achieve zero defects; perform preventive maintenance and support continuous improvement teams. Coordinate with engineering and purchasing departments on changes, material needs, and cost considerations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education certification. Minimum twelve years of machine tool setup and operation experience in an ISO/AS/MIL STD prototype or job‑shop environment. Completion of a two‑year degree or certification in machining (desired). Experience with Fusion software is a plus. Skills Adherence to safety policies and regulatory requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
