Job Summary
The Labor and Delivery Department Nurse positions are available in Des Moines, Iowa. These roles involve providing specialized care in labor and delivery, including high-risk obstetric cases such as antepartum, cesarean sections, and vaginal deliveries. Candidates are required to bring their Iowa or multistate license on the first day of employment.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, start date: 07/06/2026
• Required Qualifications: Active Iowa or multistate nursing license; recent/current labor and delivery experience; experience in labor delivery required; high-risk obstetrics experience in a level I trauma facility required; antepartum, cesarean, and vaginal delivery experience required; completion of at least one travel assignment in previous 12 months; EPIC electronic medical record experience; specific skills checklist for labor delivery discipline; certifications including BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certificate; drivers license; work history/resume/employment history with recent/current labor delivery experience; professional references from within the past 24 months.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) / AWHONN certification preferred.
• Additional Information: Traveler will be required to float across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran. Orientation date scheduled for 07/06. The unit handles approximately 150 deliveries per month at Methodist and 300-350 at Iowa Methodist.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), AWHONN certification.
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2.
• Patient Types: High-risk obstetric, antepartum, cesarean section, and vaginal deliveries.
• Drips: Magnesium, insulin, Pitocin.
