Approx. 25 Hours Per Week Hourly Rate: $26.00 Per Hour Summary: The Home visitor provides services to pregnant moms and families with children birth to age three in their home environment. The home visitor applies the Baby TALK curriculum to provide positive parenting support through comprehensive home-based early childhood services, which includes identifying parents' strengths, providing parenting education, promoting parent-child interaction, parenting coaching, monitoring child's development, health, and well-being, identifying families' needs, referring families to different community services, and collaborating with other home visitors and agencies to provide comprehensive services. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education preferred or in the area of social work, human services, family studies, psychology, counseling, or related sciences required. Must have or obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certificates. Must have 2 years of experience in a related field required. Must submit to background check through District 214 Must complete new employee GCN training and update annually as required according to deadlines Must complete the required BabyTalk training and others immediately following employment Must be able to work in a socially-and psychologically pressured environment. Previous experience working with pregnant moms and children from birth to age three. Preference given to those with home visiting and/or group facilitation experience Preference given to those with Baby TALK training or similar model. Must have proficiency in English and Spanish. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively use technology-related programs, such as Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, NewOrg or other data management systems. Home visitors will use an online database for all case management. Must work independently and in cooperation with others. Commitment to and passion for working with pregnant moms and children from birth to age three. Ability to take trainings and apply knowledge gained in education, child development, nutrition, child safety, mental health and other topics relevant for the position. Must organize workflow to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines concurrently, as well as set goals in a professional manner. Must exercise discretion and good judgment clinically and ethically and to consult with the supervisor as needed. Must make home visits in the families' home. Must establish trustworthy and respectful relationships with families to identify their strengths and support their needs. Must be available to work an irregular schedule as necessary, including some evenings and weekends. Must have a valid driver's license to travel to work, family's homes and community organizations. Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, clients, students, parents, outside officials/agencies, and the general public. Must project a positive image of the district as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude. Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 20 pounds Must be able to perform frequent bending, stooping, and reaching activities
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
1. Implements the Baby Talk Curriculum within the home environment and socialization group. 2. Stays current on and follows the program policies and procedures manual. 3. Maintains a full caseload as assigned, typically 12 families. 4. Facilitates two home visits per month to assigned caseload, and completes 100% of home visits per year 5. Implements developmentally appropriate activities and provides information that covers the eight key areas of instruction. 6. Assists the parents in observing their child's developmental levels and enables the parent to serve as their child's first and most important teacher. 7. Provides the parent with developmentally appropriate practices for the child's present level of development and provides activities of the next developmental level for each area of development emerging for the child. 8. Develops activity plans and home visits based on family's interests and child's development needs. 9. Conducts child developmental screenings and family assessments on a timely basis. 10. Monitors child's health record during home visits, and provides parents with information regarding childhood immunizations and well-being as needed. 11. Assists families to develop a family individualized service plan during the enrollment period and biannually updates. 12. Provides appropriate referrals to community services as needed and follow up finds as needed. 13. Coordinates activities and supports the family during the transition plan. 14. Encourages parent participation in group encounters, parent workshops, and other program events. 15. Collaborates with other home visitors in planning group activities, attends, and participates in monthly group encounters with families to support the eight areas of instruction. 16. Develops an annual professional plan and participates in trainings, workshops, and professional opportunities provided by Start Early, Gateways to Opportunity, Baby TALK, program supervisor, and other consultants. 17. Documents and maintains individual records on children including home visits, screenings, assessments, referrals, and progress reports, as well as maintaining an electronic internal and external database on a timely basis as required. 18. Maintains and promptly submits accurate and complete electronic records and documentation as required by the program supervisor. 19. Completes annual paperwork for the PI grant requirements and the SIS data collection, such as 0-3 PI Parent Questionnaire, 0-3 PI Outcome Questionnaire, and PI Form by assigned deadlines 20. Attends regularly scheduled monthly staff meetings, monthly group reflective supervision, and individual reflective supervision. 21. Completes and submits calendar time log and mileage reimbursements monthly. 22. Works collaboratively with program supervisor and other staff members to conduct community developmental screenings and facilitate the enrollment process for eligible families. 23. Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events. 24. Assists, plans, and coordinates biannual Parent Advisory Council meetings. 25.
