Description:
The position involves working in a telemetry unit.
The unit is comprised of a section with 14 beds and a main section with 44 beds.
Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients.
The electronic medical record system used is Cerner.
Nurses are required to read strips and manage various drips including amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed rate insulin, nitroglycerin, and dopamine.
Patients may require bipap or cpap support but not full ventilation.
There will be a nurse aide available on night shifts.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
Holidays will rotate with permanent staff.
Floating between different areas of the unit is expected.
Common diagnoses include surgical, orthopedic, and medical cases.
The main section focuses more on cardiac patients and stepdown type acuity including post-catheterization, post-pacemaker, post-PCI, TAVR, CABG, sepsis, and respiratory distress cases.
The availability of respiratory therapy and pharmacy services is continuous.
A monitor technician will be present.
The charge nurse role is not required for this position.
