Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $21.50hr - $23.05hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization to patients who come in for health routines or insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures. The role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and sensitivity to confidential patient information. Assigned work environments may include a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence, following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the general public.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, including covering Patient Service Center and in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated superior customer focus, with the ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training, such as medical assistant or paramedic training, is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred, and required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is highly preferred.
• Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
