Senior Property Risk Engineer

Job Overview Senior Risk Control Specialist – Property Technical Discipline in the assigned territory. Responsible for conducting risk assessments, advising customers on loss control, mentoring staff, and serving as a technical resource to Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters. Responsibilities Maintain a consistent field presence (20%–50% of time) with customers onsite or virtually. Conduct risk evaluations of high‑complexity Travelers customers, identifying exposures, loss controls, and opportunities for improved risk management. Share findings with Underwriting to support effective risk pricing. Leverage expert consulting skills to educate customers on risk management and influence adoption of recommended changes. Mentor Risk Control Consultants and less experienced Specialists, reviewing survey reports, providing feedback, and guiding technical matters. Develop expertise by studying emerging issues, tracking loss trends, and attending industry conferences. Educate and deliver targeted training on discipline‑specific topics to consultants, specialists, customers, and business partners. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a science discipline. Eight or more years of experience with demonstrated expertise within the property risk control/engineering discipline. Certification in one or more recognized risk control disciplines (e.g., PE, CFPS). Strong verbal and written communication skills to simplify complex technical information for varied audiences. Coaching and talent development skills, including mentoring and providing feedback. Expert understanding of risk control’s role in commercial lines insurance products, services, and risk selection practices. Expert interpersonal and influencing skills to build credibility with internal and external customers. Expert organizational and time‑management skills to manage priorities and meet business partner expectations. Valid driver’s license.
