Contract (13 Weeks) | Rotating Shifts, 3x12 Hours | Primary Shift: 11:00–23:30; Additional rotating day/night shifts based on unit needs (07:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 6-bed CVICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio and an average daily census of 3–5 patients
• Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients including CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, mitral clips, and STEMI/NSTEMI presentations
• Actively manage hemodynamic instability, cardiac output, and extreme coagulopathy during the first 6 hours post-op, including patients on two or more inotropic medications
• Operate and monitor advanced devices and therapies including Impella, ECMO, IABP, CRRT, and open chest management in coordination with on-site perfusionists and dialysis teams
• Float to the MSICU as needed and participate in on-call coverage as required per the rotating 6-week schedule (expected 24–36 hours per 6-week cycle)
• Work every third weekend as required, with potential for additional weekend coverage based on unit needs; holidays worked as scheduled

Required Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or Compact license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required; immediate open heart post-operative experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), ACLS (AHA only), CPI (Calm Every Storm online version accepted), and NIH Stroke Scale
• Must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• Block scheduling and special scheduling requests cannot be accommodated; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application

Preferred Experience / Skills

• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification preferred
• TCRN (Trauma Certified Registered Nurse) certification preferred
• Experience with cardiogenic shock, Inari procedures, and structural heart interventions
