Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) - Inpatient Medicine/Surgery
ProTouch Staffing is seeking a dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) for a full-time contract opportunity with a leading healthcare organization in New York, NY.
Position Overview
The LMSW will provide psychosocial assessments, supportive counseling, discharge planning, and referral coordination for patients in an inpatient medicine/surgery setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients and families.
- Provide supportive therapy and crisis intervention as needed.
- Develop and implement discharge plans to ensure continuity of care.
- Coordinate referrals to community resources, healthcare providers, and support services.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Advocate for patients and assist with addressing psychosocial barriers to treatment and recovery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning activities.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Current New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) license in good standing.
- Minimum 1 year of LMSW experience required.
- Experience in psychosocial assessment, supportive therapy, discharge planning, and referral management.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Experience working within medicine/surgery units.
- Familiarity with community resources and discharge planning processes.
