Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Heavy Duty Technician Transdev in Leesburg, VA is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. Benefits Competitive compensation package of minimum $28.00 – Maximum $35.00 An additional $0.25 per hour for each EVT certification you possess or obtain Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks Sick days: 5 days Holidays: 11 days Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, voluntary long‑term disability Company‑paid ASE testing and training materials Key Responsibilities Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections. Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions. Ensure work orders are completed accurately. Assist with mobile emergency services. Qualifications Valid driver’s license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed – we train! At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education. Possess a mechanic’s toolset. Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided. Virginia State inspection license is highly preferred. EVT Certification is a plus. Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason. Physical Requirements Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations. Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces. Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level. Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
