Therapies Assistant Job Title: Therapy Assistant Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands DY1 3SB Contract: Permanent – Term Time only Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 16:30pm Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle About The Role This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing, dedicated team of clinicians supporting children and young people at The Wenlock School. The role is cross‑disciplinary, with a primary focus on supporting the work of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. The successful candidate will work closely with the therapy team to provide high‑quality support tailored to pupils’ needs, including evidence‑based assessments and interventions under the supervision of qualified clinicians and the leadership of the Lead Clinician. You will support the creation of communication and sensory profiles, contribute to placement plans, deliver interventions, observe and co‑facilitate staff training, attend multi‑agency meetings, and engage in ongoing service development. Regular opportunities for professional development are provided through internal specialist forums and funding for external training. Who We Are Looking For We seek a Therapies Assistant who has experience working with young people with special educational needs, is independently motivated, and enjoys working creatively to develop bespoke interventions. A dynamic, problem‑solving approach and the ability to work effectively in a team are essential. Qualifications Minimum 5 GCSE passes including English at Grade C and above. Evidence of relevant Post‑16 education. Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required. Experience as a therapy assistant or in a similar role (advantageous). Experience working within an educational setting (advantageous). Skilled in working as part of a team. Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people with SEN. Ability to carry out both 1:1 and group sessions under supervision. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex, technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, families and professionals. Organisational skills and experience completing administrative tasks for a team (advantageous). Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
