Nutrition Services Head Cashier

Leads the Point of Sale operations within the school cafeteria, ensuring efficient and accurate transactions, excellent customer service, and proper handling of cash procedures. Plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the cafeteria and supporting a positive dining experience for students and staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Ensures all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
• Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
• Ensures all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale.
• Maintains accurate cash flow, including counting drawers, providing change and assisting with daily deposit procedures.
• Ensures all meals are reimbursable according to USDA regulations.
• Ensures accommodation of dietary modifications and food allergies for students using Point of Sales alerts.
• Provides excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Assists with service line set up and restocking throughout meal periods.
• Assists with accurate counting for completion of daily production records.
• Assists with cleaning and sanitizing service area, prep stations and dishes.
• Follows all Health Department standards to ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met.

Qualifications: Previous experience in a cashier or customer service role preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and use new software systems.
• Bilingual as required by location.

Working conditions: Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
