Job Title: Material Handler Job Description

The Material Handler supports a precision sheet metal manufacturing facility by safely and accurately moving raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the plant. This role ensures production teams receive the correct materials at the right time, maintains inventory accuracy, and supports receiving, inspection, and production operations to help achieve schedule and quality goals.

• Pull, stage, and transport raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility to support production schedules.
• Maintain organized storage areas and ensure inventory is properly labeled, stored, and accessible.
• Support inventory control by performing and assisting with regular cycle counting activities.
• Operate forklifts to safely transport sheet metal, fabricated components, and finished goods within the facility.
• Use overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to move heavy or bulky materials safely.
• Maintain continuous material flow to production work centers to prevent delays and downtime.
• Perform receiving activities by comparing incoming shipments to packing slips and purchase orders.
• Identify and document shortages, overages, and visible quality issues on incoming materials.
• Escalate shipment discrepancies and quality concerns immediately to the appropriate personnel.
• Verify material specifications using precision measuring tools to confirm compliance with production requirements.
• Inspect materials before release to manufacturing to ensure they meet quality and specification standards.
• Use ERP systems, RF scanners, and computer applications to record inventory movements and maintain accurate data.
• Support scrap management processes by properly identifying, handling, and documenting scrap materials.
• Follow all PPE and safety requirements and adhere to safety procedures in a production environment.
• Demonstrate dependable attendance, consistent performance, and a strong focus on reliability.
• Communicate effectively with production, quality, and inventory teams to coordinate material needs and resolve issues.
• Follow written and verbal instructions accurately to complete material handling and inventory tasks.
• Support production operations by responding promptly to material requests and assisting with kitting and staging activities.

• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days.
• Experience working in sheet metal, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with material handling and inventory control activities.
• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely in a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail when handling materials, verifying documentation, and recording transactions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Experience maintaining inventory accuracy, including cycle counting and stock organization.
• Ability to work with production schedules and support timely material flow.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve material and inventory issues.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with production, quality, and logistics teams.
• Ability to identify and report quality concerns and discrepancies promptly.
• Physical ability to repeatedly lift up to 35 lbs and perform frequent material movement.
• Comfort working with computer systems, ERP software, and RF scanners for inventory tracking.

• Experience working in a precision sheet metal fabrication environment.
• Background in receiving inspection and quality verification of incoming materials.
• Familiarity with kitting processes to support production builds.
• Experience with scrap management processes in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools for basic inspection tasks.
• General computer skills for data entry and inventory updates.
• Willingness to cross-train on forklifts, cranes, and inventory processes.
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership over material flow and inventory accuracy.

This role is based in a precision sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing facility with regular exposure to production equipment and machinery. You can expect moderate to high noise levels, exposure to metal dust and particles, and variable indoor temperatures. The position requires standing and walking for most of the workday, along with frequent material movement and lifting activities. Personal protective equipment is required and provided, and you will work in a safety-focused production environment that emphasizes proper use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rowlett, TX.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
