$1,200 - $4,999 per monthHuman Rights Campaign
Position Summary The Senior Director of Mid-Level Giving (Federal Club) is in the Leadership Giving Pillar and reports directly to the Vice President of Leadership Giving. The Federal Club is HRC’s mid-level fundraising program with sustained gifts ranging from $100/month–$416/month ($1,200 to $4,999). The Senior Director of Federal Club, working in coordination with the Vice President of Leadership Giving and the 3 programs that comprise Leadership Giving (Federal Club, Federal Club Council and Equality Circle), is responsible for the strategic management of activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-level, major, and planned gift donors, and foundation funders, ensuring these donors are inspired by HRC’s mission and engaged in supporting the organization. As a front-line fundraiser, the Senior Director is laser-focused on growing HRC’s mid-level program as a critical pipeline for long-term organizational growth—identifying, cultivating, and closing gifts personally while building the systems and volunteer infrastructure to scale the program. Central to this role is a seamless and highly collaborative partnership with the HRC Federal Club Council (major gifts) program, ensuring that mid-level donors are thoughtfully nurtured and transitioned into the major giving pipeline, and that the two programs operate as an integrated continuum of donor engagement. Additionally, the Senior Director will oversee and manage the cultivation, stewardship and retention of a portfolio of Federal Club Council donors, making annual gifts of $5,000. This position works regularly with senior HRC leadership as well as members of the HRC Board of Directors (BOD) and Board of Governors (BOG) across the country to recruit and retain donors. Position Responsibilities Strategic Planning, Program Management & Leadership Develop, manage, and achieve the annual mid-level giving (Federal Club) budget as well as the Federal Club Council program goals and special initiatives. Manage the Federal Club staff team to include hiring, reviewing performance, coaching, and professional development. Management activities include individual and team meetings regarding fundraising strategies and work plans; working with board members; prospect identification; meeting projected quarterly city goals; and engaging program staff in donor stewardship activities. Work collaboratively with Directors of Planned Giving and Major Gifts to recruit, develop, and coach our teams toward individual and team growth and performance to reach quarterly and annual revenue goals across all programs and giving levels/types. Partner with the leader of Development Operations and their team to develop and manage financial and data reports for senior management and volunteers to track and analyze the results of member recruitment, upgrades, and renewal rates; review, analyze, and make recommendations for improvement. Effectively represent HRC at events, including direct solicitation of gifts at high-touch stewardship moments such as the National Dinner weekend and other key events throughout the country and in Washington, DC. Advocate for the mid-level giving program's goals while collaborating strategically with the planned giving and major donor programs on shared stewardship. Volunteer & Board Management Train, motivate, and manage volunteer leadership (members of the HRC Board of Directors (BOD) and Board of Governors (BOG)) in recruiting and retaining HRC mid- and high-dollar donors to meet Federal Club membership and dollar goals. Together with the Mid-Level Giving team, coach Governors and Directors to create annual work plans for engaging and recruiting high-dollar members in their communities; advise them on specific event planning and fundraising strategies (targeting and soliciting prospects, stewarding members, etc.); and provide guidance on launching local HRC Federal Club subcommittees to meet goals. Work closely with the communities and volunteer leadership team and the Board of Governors as the lead staff contact representing the mid-level giving (Federal Club) to ensure board member engagement in individual fundraising, drive progress toward Strive for Impact recruitment goals, and support holistic strategies that establish a culture of fundraising. In addition to managing their own portfolio of communities, they will lead the Mid-Level Giving (Federal Club) team in support of all 31 Steering Committees, providing counsel to Board Members and Federal Club co-chairs. Engage and coach the National Federal Club Co-Chairs on the BOG Executive Committee to establish new initiatives, address volunteer needs, and create year-round programming and training for the volunteers around individual fundraising. Fundraising Manage a portfolio of communities and members across mid-level giving. This work includes travel to assigned cities and close collaboration with local board members to develop stewardship and renewal strategies; expand best practices around volunteer leadership and training, with a special focus on individual fundraising; and collaboratively develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for identified prospects. Work strategically and creatively to expand the base of prospective mid- and high-dollar donors giving to HRC, with an emphasis on employing moves management strategies for each. Serve as a dedicated front-line fundraiser with a laser focus on growing the mid-level program as a pipeline for HRC’s long-term fundraising success. Work seamlessly and collaboratively with the HRC Federal Club Council (major gifts) program to align donor engagement strategies, share portfolio insights, and ensure a warm, coordinated transition of donors as their giving capacity and relationship with HRC deepens. Position Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of fundraising experience, with a focus on individual giving, volunteer management, and leadership development.
