(ACD) is a leader in the field of molecular pathology and tissue-based diagnostics. Our core RNAscope technology is the world’s first multiplex fluorescent and chromogenic in situ hybridization platform capable of detecting and quantifying RNA biomarkers in situ at single molecule sensitivity. RNAscope is an ideal platform for developing the next generation of tissue-based companion diagnostics. We are committed to continued innovation to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical medicine to fulfill the promise of personalized medicine.The Scientist, Probe Design is a key member of the R&D team. The Scientist will work within a highly dynamic group to develop and optimize new probe products based on our RNAscope technology and work closely with our commercial team to identify and support customer needs.ResponsibilitiesDesign made-to-order RNAscope probes for target sequences using proprietary softwareAnswer technical inquiries related to design of target probes & submission of New Probe Requests (NPR)Review NPR forms for accurate and efficient probe designsUtilize Linux command-line tools for sequence alignments (BLAST/BLAT), probe selection, specificityProvide probe product training and troubleshooting for Advanced Cell Diagnostics scientific probe product lines via phone and emailAct as primary contact for customers regarding technical issues, as well as providing scientific consultation for research use only inquiriesCollaborate with Commercial and Marketing teams to meet the needs of customersEnsure customer service excellence and guaranteed response times by actively monitoring SalesForce queue, inbox, phone calls, and ensuring all issues are resolved in a timely and comprehensive mannerContribute to ongoing new product development and introduction with R&D teams in a laboratory environmentContribute to the ongoing development of the Probe Design team's knowledgebasePresent scientific and product updates to customers and internal teamsQualificationsEducation:PhD with 4+ years of research experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics computational biology or a closely related fieldSkills:In-depth knowledge of genes and sequences, RNA biologyFamiliarity with standard bioinformatics tools (Python, R, or equivalent), and a programming language (C/C++, Java)Experience in commonly used biological databases and bioinformatics software toolsAbility to work within multi-disciplinary team of computational biologists, molecular biologists, imaging software scientists, biochemists and othersPost-graduate experience with experimental design, cell and molecular techniquesMust be very adept at diagnosing, troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems with a variety of biological assaysHighly self-directed, conscientious, articulate, and possesses excellent presentation and teaching skillsExperience:2yr+ of experience in Biotech/Biopharma R&D2yr+ of experience with Linux, Python, Perl or other programming languages2yr+ of experience with next-generation sequencing platforms or sequencing tools (genomic/epigenomic/transcriptomic)Prior experience in probe design across multiple speciesExperience in biological sequence analysis tasks such as database searches and multiple sequence alignment toolsCommitted to total customer satisfaction with outstanding interpersonal skills and professionalismCustomer-facing experience with a strong scientific capacityWorking Conditions:Ability to travel ~10% of timeWork is performed in office settings.Regular use of computers.Work may occasionally require extended hours to meet project deadlines.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a computer.Why Join Bio-Techne:We offer competitive insurance benefits starting on day one: medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, long-term disability, pet, and legal and ID shield.We invest in our employees’ financial futures through 401k plans, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), Health Saving Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and Dependent Care FSA.We empower our employees develop their careers through mentorship, promotional opportunities, training and development, tuition reimbursement, internship programs, and more.We offer employee resource groups, volunteer paid time off, employee events, and charity drives to build a culture of caring and belonging.
