Job Description
The Training Supervisor leads a site-wide training program for a rapidly growing pharmaceutical facility, managing a small training team while designing, delivering, and continuously improving comprehensive training for new and existing employees. This role combines people leadership, regulatory compliance, and instructional design to ensure staff are fully trained on company policies, procedures, and best practices, and that the site remains audit-ready at all times.
Responsibilities
- Mentor, lead, and develop employees by providing clear guidance, coaching, and ongoing support to drive individual and organizational performance.
- Communicate site and department goals and expectations to staff, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Set goals and performance expectations for team members with their input, and ensure conditions necessary for staff performance are met while removing barriers to success.
- Measure direct reports’ core job performance and their contribution to team performance, and communicate site and department performance to staff.
- Provide regular, constructive feedback to direct reports on their core job performance and collaborate with them to identify and enable skill and knowledge development.
- Reward and recognize staff and team performance to build engagement and foster a positive, high-performing culture.
- Ensure direct report positions are filled in a timely manner with the best-qualified candidates, including participation in hiring and related decisions.
- Facilitate effective interpersonal relationships and performance across the site, including Operations, Warehouse, Regulatory, and Laboratory teams.
- Schedule technical training activities and monitor the work group for efficiency, compliance with procedures, and productivity.
- Manage comprehensive training programs for new and existing employees, including onboarding and ongoing development.
- Review training materials and modules in document management systems as part of the quality unit, including e-learning modules and presentations, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops on company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and best practices for adult learners.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and tailor programs to address specific operational and quality requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven adjustments to improve outcomes and engagement.
- Ensure all training activities comply with industry regulations and company standards, including cGMP and DEA requirements.
- Provide ongoing support and mentorship to employees to facilitate continuous learning, professional growth, and knowledge retention.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities and employee participation in relevant systems, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
- Ensure the site training team operates in a safe, compliant manner and maintains audit readiness at all times.
- Drive consensus within teams toward solutions that are effective, efficient, and compliant with regulatory and quality standards.
- Create and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) in a timely fashion to address training-related or compliance issues.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to ensure training-related quality and timelines are met.
- Provide leadership across functional groups and drive support teams to implement training-related improvements.
- Interact with various regulatory authorities and provide support for audit requests related to training and compliance, as applicable.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating ownership of the training program and related initiatives.
- Lead projects related to training program development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
- Prioritize multiple initiatives and develop contingency plans to ensure training coverage and compliance across shifts and departments.
Essential Skills
- Proven supervisory skills with experience mentoring, leading, and developing employees.
- Demonstrated teaching and mentorship abilities, especially with adult learners using different training methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and DEA material operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in regulatory compliance requirements, including GMP and DEA.
- Strong competency with general functions of a site training program in a pharmaceutical or regulated industry environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, SAP, and learning management systems (LMS).
- Experience using site systems such as LMS, QSDB, Trackwise, and Veeva Vault document management systems.
- Experience developing and delivering pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, and/or quality control training.
- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs.
- Five (5) years of pharmaceutical or regulated industry operations or quality experience is preferred.
- Experience leading projects related to training, quality, or operational improvement.
- Ability to assess training needs, design appropriate curricula, and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple priorities and develop contingency plans.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS), preferably in a scientific, quality, or education field.
- Other BA/BS programs may be considered if fundamental college-level math and science coursework has been successfully completed.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in a large, regulated environment.
- Quality assurance, compliance, and new hire orientation programs.
- Experience with learning management systems and quality-related databases.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Warehouse, Regulatory, and Laboratory teams.
- Comfort interacting with regulatory authorities and supporting audit requests.
- Experience designing and delivering e-learning modules and presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus and foster effective cross-functional relationships.
Work Environment
This role is primarily desk-based within a large, state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility and campus that is experiencing rapid growth. The Training Supervisor will manage a team of three direct reports and will collaborate frequently with leaders and staff across multiple departments and divisions, including Operations, Warehouse, Regulatory, and Laboratory. The standard schedule follows normal Monday–Friday business hours, but flexibility is required at times to provide training and support for teams working on off shifts. Work is performed in a professional office and regulated manufacturing environment with extensive use of technology, including Microsoft applications, SAP, learning management systems, and document management platforms such as Veeva Vault. The culture emphasizes compliance, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork in a modern, well-equipped setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
