Lead Groundskeeper
Leads and instructs Groundskeepers in the grounds maintenance and care of the California Highway Patrol Academy, Fleet Operations, and Supply Services, including lawns, trees, shrubs, landscaped areas, irrigation systems, roads, parking lots, and unimproved areas. Assist with planning and scheduling daily work activities; coordinate grounds maintenance projects; monitor equipment, materials, and supplies; and ensure grounds are maintained in a safe, professional, and efficient manner. Operate, inspect, and assist with the maintenance and repair of grounds equipment, irrigation systems, and related infrastructure. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with regulatory requirements and maintain required applicator licenses and records. Provide training and guidance to staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices; conduct safety meetings in the absence of the supervisor; maintain required reports and records; assist with equipment replacement recommendations and purchasing requests.
