Director Facilities Environment of Care Position Highlights This position is completely responsible and accountable for the Plant Operations / Engineering functions on a given hospital campus, including, but not limited to, efficiency of day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, energy management, financial management, staff efficiency and productivity, and quality of services delivered. This position also functions as the physical environment safety officer and is responsible for the compliance with The Joint Commission Environment of Care program requirements. This position is responsible for oversight and support for Supervisory staff as they perform daily operations with front line staff for Food and Nutrition Services and Environmental Services Operations. Please note that the Director will also oversee Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition Services and Emergency Management Services Work location: Onsite at Texas Health Cleburne; Cleburne, TX Work hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 08:00 AM – 5:00 PM Key Responsibilities DEPARTMENTAL OPERATIONS - Organize and delegate activities as required for the safe, efficient and effective operation of the department including active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish this objective. Develops and oversees the implementation of policies, procedures, and standards that direct department operations as required for service, verify that standards are consistent with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements. Actively incorporate measures to obtain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements. Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to leadership team and staff. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT SAFETY MANAGER - Overall responsibility for planning, implementation and management of regulatory compliance with Environment of Care Program Management. Plan and organize the broad range of activities, processes, and procedures required to meet the regulatory requirements of the hospital. Performs all duties/responsibilities of the Safety Officer and acts upon any conditions which pose an immediate threat to life or health or pose a threat of damage to equipment or buildings. Assures, coordinates, and participates in the implementation of the environment of care management plans: safety, security, hazardous materials and waste, decontamination and emergency preparedness, life safety, medical equipment, and utility systems. LEADERSHIP/ACCOUNTABILITY - Promote the professional image in demeanor, appearance, attitude and behaviors. Establish collegial relationships with physicians, unit personnel and administration. Integrate team building strategies and principles of group process in iteration with staff. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - Prepare and manage the operating and capital budgets for the department in collaboration with the department management and staff, determine the appropriate number and level of staff, balancing competency, patient needs, patient outcomes, patient safety outcomes and productivity guidelines. QUALITY - Collaborate with all customer groups (patients, department/hospital staff, physicians and other customer groups), to meet and exceed needs / expectations. Create and maintain a collaborative work environment (patients, physicians and key stakeholders. Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement of care and patient safety. Identify key performance indicators that need to be monitored and evaluated. HUMAN RESOURCES/STAFF MANAGEMENT - Oversee and manage the effectiveness of the department recruitment and retention program, taking action as necessary to provide an adequate level of qualified staff. Promote professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues. Track and evaluate staff performance and individual development, holding staff accountable for achieving service expectations. Education H.S. Diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred Experience 5 years progressive leadership experience in facilities management experience with emphasis on healthcare including full knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements of plant operations in a healthcare environment w/Bachelor's degree required. Or, 9 years progressive leadership experience in facilities management experience with emphasis on healthcare including full knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements of plant operations in a healthcare environment with High School Diploma required Licenses and Certifications DL - Drivers License required upon hire CHFM - Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager preferred upon hire FPM - Food Protection Manager preferred within 60 days Skills Creative, strategic thinker with high ethical standards and professional image. Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, strong operational background. Team player, articulate, able to relate to people at all levels. Good educator willing to share information and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Practices. Strong Knowledge of Industry Regulations and Standards - ASHE, TJC, OSHA, TDSHS, ASHRAE, HIPPA. Why Texas Health?
