Medical Technologist II

Job Summary

The Medical Lab Technologist II performs routine and special tests according to written protocols to determine test results that will assist in diagnosing and treating patients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations
Collects, accepts, and prepares clinical specimens for analysis and storage.
Performs all testing and related calculations.
Evaluates and reports results.
Performs established procedures for quality testing.
Exhibits professional interpersonal skills.
Provides instructions to MT students and other medical personnel.
Participates in activities/in-services to maintain professional and departmental requirements.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in a biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution; and Completion of a twelve month clinical laboratory training program approved by the U. S.


Department of Education and/or accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory


Sciences (NAACLS) or equivalent; and Completion of a nationally recognized certification examination for

clinical laboratory scientists, such as that offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. Proficiency in the English language required.
