Data Center Engineer

Overview We are seeking a hands-on Lab Engineer to support a cutting-edge engineering environment for a leading global technology organization. This role is 100% onsite in Hopkinton, MA and will focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing lab infrastructure used for product development, testing, and validation. Key Responsibilities Set up, configure, and maintain lab hardware systems including servers, storage, and networking equipment Support lab operations by troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and basic software issues Rack, stack, cable, and decommission equipment as needed Monitor lab health and ensure uptime, performance, and reliability of test environments Collaborate with engineering teams to support testing, validation, and deployment activities Maintain accurate documentation of lab configurations, inventory, and procedures Assist with lab organization, asset tracking, and equipment lifecycle management Follow and enforce lab safety, security, and operational best practices Required Qualifications 2–5+ years of experience in a lab, data center, or hardware support environment Strong hands-on experience with server hardware, storage systems, and networking fundamentals Experience with racking/stacking, cabling, and physical infrastructure management Familiarity with Linux or Windows environments for basic troubleshooting Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues efficiently Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Experience working in enterprise lab or test environments Exposure to storage technologies, RAID configurations, or data center operations Basic scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) Familiarity with ticketing systems and asset management tools Location: Hopkinton, MA (100% onsite) Schedule: Standard business hours (may require occasional flexibility) Type: Contract Environment: Fast-paced, collaborative, and highly technical If you’re someone who enjoys working close to the hardware and being a critical part of engineering operations, this is a great opportunity to gain experience with advanced technologies in a world-class lab setting.
