Commercial Roofing EstimatorThe Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the labor, equipment, and material costs for roofing opportunities. This role involves verifying sales information, negotiating supplier pricing, and maintaining current market data to generate precise estimates and project documents. If you're looking for a place to grow, thrive, and make a real impact while working in a safety-focused, supportive environment, J.R. & Co., Inc. is the place for you.Essential Functions:Prepare detailed estimates across all commercial roofing systems, including labor, materials, equipment, and pricingPerform value engineering to recommend cost-effective solutions that meet client and project requirementsReview drawings, specifications, and warranty requirements to ensure accuracy and complianceSupport sales by attending client meetings to assess roof conditions and recommend solutionsMaintain current material pricing and negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers as neededCompile submittals, manufacturer documentation, and complex project-related paperworkParticipate in pre-bid, post-bid, and handoff meetings with sales and project management teamsConduct risk analysis, generate job cost reports, and ensure compliance with contracts and company processesRequired Skills and Abilities:Valid driver's license in accordance with state laws and company driving policiesOSHA 10 certification and strong knowledge of OSHA safety standardsSolid understanding of commercial roofing systems, codes, and industry standardsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and technical specificationsProficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, The EDGE, and PipedriveStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skillsConsistently model company values including integrity, accountability, respect, and excellenceEducation and Experience:5 years of experience in construction estimating preferred5 years of experience in roofing (prefer experience in code enforcement and building system inspections)Continuing industry education as relevant to estimating job duties (even after hire)Work Environment/Physical Requirements:Pass initial drug test and participate in random drug test programPrimarily Indoor work environmentAbility to work at high elevationsFrequent walking, standing, kneeling, crouchingOvertime and weekend workBenefits:Health, dental, vision, life insuranceTelehealthPaid time off401(k) Plus company matchCareer AdvancementPaid Parental LeaveLocation/ScheduleIn Person: Des Moines, IAMon-Fri: Day ShiftJ.R. & Co., Inc. is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
