Lead Installer

The lead installer leads project teams of the highest complexity in the installation of system furniture at customer sites. The lead installer serves as a main point of contact for both performing installation and directing installation teams. Plans work flow, directs work of installers, resolves installation problems, and manages all administrative paperwork. Works closely with customer to ensure customer's satisfaction with the installation.

Essential functions include effectively installing all types of commercial office furniture, performing all needed tasks to stage the job site, working with installation packages, accurately completing and submitting required paperwork, properly disassembling and reassembling all systems furniture, installing all forms of wall attachments, understanding which fasteners to use, creatively solving problems that emerge during the installation, assisting with project clean up, providing leadership for installation teams, consistently bringing projects in on-time and under budget, overseeing and providing direction for projects of any size and complexity, providing training for installers, monitoring work of installers, maintaining company standards, modeling and communicating standards of conduct, performing project preplanning, developing contingency plans, maintaining an accurate labor log, ensuring accurate completion of all paperwork, and effectively interacting with customers, trades, colleagues, subs, and temps.

Qualifications include excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to lead and manage people in a team-based environment, excellent organization and time management skills, capability with MS Office, Outlook, Excel and Word, and understanding and knowledge of product lines and services offered.

Job duties include proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects amid changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, effective customer service skills, ability to follow instructions and adhere to department and company policies and procedures, mindfulness of maintaining safety in the work environment, understanding of and effective use of blueprints, elevations, typicals and specifications having to do with Steelcase systems furniture and the ability to apply this knowledge to non-Steelcase systems, ability to understand the electrical components of Steelcase system furniture, ability to provide own tool set as defined by One Workplace, ability to drive company vehicles, valid driver's license in the state of Washington and good driving record, flexibility with work schedules and locations, ownership/access to a reliable vehicle, basic understanding of hand tools, and ability to meet established deadlines.

Experience/training/education/certification required includes high school diploma or equivalent, five or more years of related work experience, installation of commercial office furniture experience.

Work environment includes heavy physical activity, moving and lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, valid state driver license required, frequent driving between company locations, noise levels are moderate.
