Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, CPI or MAB required Must-Have: - 1 year of experience in Behavioral Health - First-time travelers are welcome - Patient ratio experience: 6:1 - Previous charge experience is preferred - Experience with charting systems such as Epic is preferred - Float may be required - Weekends may be required Description: The position involves providing care to patients in a Behavioral Health setting. The nurse will work with adults and be responsible for managing various behavioral health conditions. Skills required include Crisis Intervention, De-escalation techniques, and managing self-injurious behavior. Experience with mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and other psychiatric medications is necessary. The role may also require interpreting lab values and monitoring vital signs. Aptitude in physical hold protocols and seclusion procedures is essential. The patient daily census will be 17 with a ratio of 6 patients per nurse. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various teams including respiratory services and social services. The unit typically consists of locked environments and standard operations with 12 rooms and 21 beds. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective behavior management techniques and therapeutic communication skills. Travelers will be expected to float to similar units based on facility needs.
