Job Summary
Our local Chicago home health agency has helped 1000's of patients over the last 22 years and is looking for an experienced Director of Nursing to join our small team of dedicated individuals. We take a lot of pride in treating both our patients and employees with respect and care. This pivotal role includes both managing the clinical aspects of the agency and also managing other agency functions so that the agency operates effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. The main priority is to ensure that the patients receive the best plan of care that will lead to the best patient outcome. Other high priorities include making sure nurses are fully supported, clinical documentation meets/exceeds Medicare Guidelines/Procedures and keeping up with any changes in the home health industry that may impact the agency and managing daily internal administrative operations. 

 
Responsibilities 

1. Ensure Medicare guidelines and CoPs are being met including clinical documentation.
2. Must be available in person or telephonically during business hours to agency, staff, patients, and families as needed.
3. Develop and maintain a Quality Improvement program to ensure quality patient care through clinical record reviews, implementation of corrective action where appropriate and program evaluation.
4. Coordinates, directs, and manages the clinical operations of the agency.
5. Participate in the interviewing, hiring and evaluation of qualified nursing personnel.
6. Direct, plan and implement ongoing in-service programs and the annual competency evaluation program for all agency nursing staff.
7. Ensure the provision of home health care to patients and families in compliance with physician orders and the established treatment plan.
8. Provide for and actively participate in the annual agency program evaluation.
9. Ensure that all discipline specific professional standards are met in the provision of patient care by clinical review of the assessment, treatment planning and visit note documentation. Provide supervision, feedback and training when needed.
10. Reviewing MD notes, Hospital visit notes, and referrals to make sure they are acceptable. Order Labs, and nursing supplies.
11. Assumes additional responsibilities and works on assigned special projects as determined by the agency Administrator.
12. MUST make sure office staff collect nursing and therapy paperwork on time so that billing is done.
13. Responsible for insurance authorizations and responsible for responding to denials or requests for info.

 
Qualifications  

• Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Illinois.
• Graduate from an NLN accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Three years of experience in home health care or related community nursing organization within the recent five-year period. 
• Knowledge of all Federal and State regulations governing home health care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the provision of home health care to patients and their families. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Illinois.
