Overview American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Assistant with a strong background in robotic (da Vinci Xi), neuro, general, orthopedic, and ENT procedures for an evening shift position in a hospital Main OR at a Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI. Requirements Minimum 2 years of surgical assistant experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Strong background in robotic surgery (da Vinci Xi), neuro, general, orthopedic, and ENT procedures required BLS certification required Active license required, if applicable First assist skills checklist required (not general ORT skills checklist) Epic EMR experience At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Candidate\'s middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration Responsibilities Hospital Main OR setting at a 938-bed Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility in Milwaukee, WI Patient population includes Neuro/ENT, Orthopedic, General (Breasts/Plastics), Vascular, Laparoscopic, General Oncology, GU, GYN, and Robotic cases Functions as a Surgical First or Second Assistant to the surgeon for complex and basic operative or invasive procedures 1:1 patient ratio 8-hour evening shift, 1400–2230, 40 hours per week Cross-trained to all Main OR specialties and Urology center; no floating to other hospitals On-call requirements vary by specialty: General/Neuro has AM call slots Monday–Friday plus weekend slots, and PM overnight call slots; Orthopedic Surgical Assistants have one call day per week Monday–Thursday and one call weekend every 5 weeks 30-minute on-call response time required Charting via Epic; equipment includes Alaris and Pyxis Holiday coverage expectations apply; details available upon inquiry Functions as Surgical First or Second Assistant; may also perform Surgical Technologist responsibilities if required, though preferably not simultaneously with first assist duties Agency travelers will not be trained on robotics unless they have a strong background and have completed more than one contract at this facility Candidates should be prepared to describe in detail their experience with vascular, robotic, and ENT procedures Orientation is approximately 2 weeks, including education/paperwork, General, Ortho, Neuro, and Urology rotations (subject to change based on unit needs) Supported by Charge Nurses, Leads, and Supervisors on the unit Hospital-provided surgical scrubs; scrub caps must be covered by a surgical bouffant Free parking available; daytime parking is in a detached lot approximately 2 blocks away, evening parking is in an attached lot Starbucks and cafeteria available on campus First-time travelers are not recommended for this position without further evaluation and approval from the hiring supervisor Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for a travel assignment Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply A clinical interview is required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs #J-18808-Ljbffr
