Job Title: Convenience Store ManagerReports To: Petroleum ManagerJob Summary:To direct, promote, and coordinate the convenience store in a manner that will optimize the cooperative's market share and savings, improve the cooperative's efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.Key Responsibilities:The Convenience Store Manager's responsibilities involve supervision, marketing, profitability and sales, reporting, purchasing, resale pricing, inventory, service, maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management.The Convenience Store Manager will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.SupervisionSupervision involves establishing and communicating store goals and results to employees, staffing the store and delegating the workload, actively supporting employee growth, and upholding cooperative policies.Establish and communicate store goals and results to employees:• Establish store goals with assistance from managementStaff store and delegate work load to meet market requirements:• Establish and update job descriptions for all positions within the store• Recommend selection of employees based on job requirements• Staff and adjust work force to fit seasonal needs with a minimum of unproductive labor costs• Employ seasonal work-sharing arrangements to minimize layoffs and unemployment compensation costsActively support employee growth:• Schedule and supervise orientation for new store employees• Update employees regularly on new product knowledge• Supervise activities of employees• Identify in writing annually training needed for individual employees• Discuss performance annually with each store employee• Complete and administer a yearly merit review with each store employee followingmanagement approval• Stimulate and develop positive morale and team spirit that leads to high productivity• Actively work to increase personal skills and knowledgeUphold cooperative policies:1. Uphold all cooperative policies2. Uphold and enforce dress codes3. Ensure that store facilities and equipment meet all federal, state, and OSHAregulations4. He/she will also:o Maintain accurate cash controlo Maintain store securityIncrease market share through regular sales efforts• Review sales reports monthly with store employees• Submit sales call recap monthly to management• Enforce correct pricingReportingReporting involves submitting all required operational reports to management within the timelimits stated below.• Submit daily invoices and sales recaps to management daily with no errors ordiscrepanciesPurchasingPurchasing involves purchasing products for resale.• Purchase products of quality that will result in a minimum of customer complaints• Ensure the cost of products will allow for competitive pricing while still meeting thecooperative's financial objectives• Make purchases from outside the cooperative system only if they provide a substantialfinancial advantageResale PricingResale pricing involves establishing prices of products and services.• Set prices that are competitive with industry guidelines and local competitors• Set prices that allow the cooperative to meet sales and financial objectivesInventoryInventory involves managing inventory levels.• Develop and maintain a system for monitoring and controlling inventory levels thatresults in minimal shrinkage• Supervise checking of all in-shipments for accuracy against the delivery ticket, properquantity, price as ordered, and quality• Clear out obsolete inventories annually• Maintain inventories at levels to assure service with a minimum of delivery delays, yetmaintain inventory turn goalsServiceService involves providing and promoting the service necessary to meet the store's goals.• Enforce regulations to ensure an even flow to accounts• Suggest and detail benefits and features of related products• Handle claims and complaints promptly• Supervise quality control to assure maintenance of product specifications• Ensure all services provided assist in achieving store profitability• Make arrangements ahead of time for coverage of duties in case of a planned absence,such as vacation, or an unplanned absence, such as illness• Lose no customers due to services provided by the storeMaintenanceMaintenance involves maintaining property, facilities, and equipment.• Ensure property, facilities, and equipment remain in good repair and appearance• Make recommendations on replacement, additions, or deletions of facilities andequipment when needed and/or economically justified• Maintain a clean and orderly store• Arrange seasonal displays• Lose no customer due to unsatisfactory equipment performanceOther Duties:The Convenience Store Manager will uphold cooperative policies, perform other duties asassigned by management, and will enforce and uphold the cooperative's credit policy.Uphold cooperative policies:• Uphold all cooperative policiesUphold cooperative credit policies:• Make credit terms known to all employees and customers• Do not charge to customers on COD• Do not extend credit to customers who have not been approved by the credit manager• Keep all personal accounts currentPerform other duties as assigned by management:• Perform duties as requested by management
