Communications Specialists Job Summary Designs, coordinates, and executes a wide range ofmarketing/communications initiatives. Performs a variety ofwriting, design, and project management tasks while using soundjudgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and executemarketing/communications strategies. Utilizes traditional andelectronic publishing technologies to produce communications thatsupport project objectives. This person will assist with communications operations and tasks ofthe Office of the EVPAA as directed by the communications director.This person will help craft both internal and external messagingfor the Executive Vice President and other campus leaders. Dutiesmay include managing/coordinating annual faculty awardscommunication/project and Truth in Tuition communication/project,as well as assisting with writing talking points, newsletterarticles, @theU articles, etc. They will also help manage theEVPAA's social media accounts and may be asked to collaborate withother communications and marketing professionals in AcademicAffairs to complete larger projects. Responsibilities Engage in the development and execution of strategic marketingcommunications to efficiently support EVPAA Office projects acrossvarious communication channels. Create communication programs thatpromote the organization and its projects through various meansincluding blogs and social media, websites, logos, or otherpromotional products. Collaborate with external partners/vendors toexecute promotional events and campaigns. Develop a calendar forsocial media campaigns. Assist in analyzing marketing data to helpshape future marketing strategies Marketing Communication Specialist, I Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts workassignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitudefor independent judgment. This is an Entry-Level position in the General Professionaltrack. Marketing Communication Specialist, II Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline.Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderatesupervision with some latitude for independent judgment. This is a Developing-Level position in the General Professionaltrack. Department Specefic Responsibilites Develops and executes marketing/communication plans byutilizing traditional and electronic publishing technologies Develops and communicates department information on variousprojects to its stakeholders, both internal and external Monitors the effectiveness of marketing and communicationtactics and adjusts communication plans as necessary Collaborates with the department and other stakeholders todevelop concepts for various projects Proofreads all communications and monitors media Manages the research and development of content forpublication Develops and adheres to project timelines Ensures that distributed material is accurate and timely May perform other related technical duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience). Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels: Marketing Communication Specialist, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related workexperience or a master's (or equivalency) degree. Marketing Communication Specialist, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Preferences Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related fieldand three to five years of experience in a communications role.Experience in internal communications, public relations, and/orsocial media is preferred.
