Full/Part Time Status: Full Time Position Description:

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a full-time orthopedic surgeon to provide general orthopedic services at the Medical Center Downtown campus in Iowa City, Iowa. The position will be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on the clinical (non-tenure) track, commensurate with experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to build and grow a general orthopedic practice serving Johnson County and surrounding communities, helping shape the future of orthopedic care in Eastern Iowa.

Medical Center Downtown is a 234-bed hospital that joined Iowa's only comprehensive academic health system on January 31, 2024. Formerly Mercy Iowa City, the hospital has served the community since 1873 and continues its commitment to UI Health Care's mission of changing medicine, changing lives.

Additional responsibilities of this position may include:

• Establishing a successful general orthopedic practice through building strong referral relationships and providing access to those patients.
• Assisting in the recruitment of one or more future partners to support program growth at Medical Center Downtown campus.
• Participating in shared call coverage at Medical Center Downtown.
• Participating in departmental educational programs and collaborating with faculty at the Medical Center North Liberty campus and other locations as may be appropriate.
• Participating in the department's academic mission, including teaching residents, fellows and medical students.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

Education Requirement:

• MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited or recognized medical or osteopathic school
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited orthopedic surgery residency

Required Qualifications:

• Eligibility for and ability to obtain an Iowa medical license prior to start
• Commitment to clinical excellence and team-based care
• Interest in maintaining a broad-based general orthopedic practice
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Certifications:

• American Board of Orthopedic Surgery certification or eligibility
• Current BLS certification

Desirable Qualifications:

• Fellowship training or other additional specialization in an orthopedic subspecialty
