Social Work Supervisor

Medical Social Work Supervisor (2924) – Department of Public Health Availability for on‑call shifts is required. Responsibilities In general supervision, oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of social work staff, assigns caseloads, and provides clinical consultation and supervision on complex cases. Coordinates medical social services programs, performs therapy, handles administrative duties, and participates in hospital and community activities. Provides consultation concerning the most difficult or complex cases, manages complex cases as needed, and makes administrative decisions. Prepares work schedules and assignments for medical social work staff, conferring with individual staff members on specific duties. Reviews important and difficult cases to check eligibility and reviews other cases for specific reasons. Coordinates the Medical Social Services Program and acts as liaison between medical social service staff and various hospital departments, personnel, and community agencies. Participates in the preparation and maintenance of individual case records, the preparation or supervision of periodic performance reports, and related statistics. Interprets medical policies and procedures for Social Workers and medical vendors. Represents the department at conferences, workshops, seminars, regional committees, and related meetings. Participates in quality improvement efforts. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Four (4) years of post‑Master’s Medical Social Worker experience in a health care setting. Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Substitution: Two (2) years of post‑Master’s Medical Social Worker experience supervising medical social workers in a medical social service program of a health care setting may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
