Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), you will carry out essential care and diagnostic procedures for diagnosing and treating cardiopulmonary conditions in patients of all ages. As part of a patient-centered care team, your responsibilities will include performing basic maintenance on respiratory equipment, implementing quality control measures, and handling various administrative or technical tasks.
- Setting up and operating different types of respiratory care equipment.
- Conducting a variety of technical procedures related to cardiopulmonary hemodynamics.
- Demonstrating proficiency in proper airway management.
- Assessing patients accurately, interpreting results, and recommending alternative respiratory treatments.
- Exhibiting competence in routine patient assessments and recognizing respiratory dysfunction.
- Acting as a respiratory care protocol assessor by delivering therapy, reassessing patients promptly, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Regularly communicating with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient care plans and updates.
Experience
- Preferred experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Education
- Graduation from an American Medical Association accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for NICU RRT staff.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required for ICU RRT staff.
