At Tend, we do dentistry differently — without compromising on excellence or ambition. As a Market Lead Dentist, you'll do what you love most: deliver exceptional clinical care. But you'll also do something more — you'll shape the clinical culture, performance, and people across an entire market of Tend studios. This is a producing role. You'll carry an active schedule and hold a high clinical bar while simultaneously developing Lead Dentists and Associates, partnering with market operations leadership, and driving consistency across locations. It's the right role for a dentist who's equally energized by complex cases and by watching the clinicians around them get better. You’ll report to Chief Dental Officer, Dr. Chris Salierno, and work across 4 studios in the Boston market, with a hybrid presence across locations based on business need. Compensation & Earning Potential Our compensation model is designed to reward high-quality clinical care, comprehensive treatment, and strong production—while providing consistency and transparency. All dentists receive a guaranteed daily rate and earn a tiered percentage of adjusted production, with: Market Lead Dentists: 32-40% of adjusted production, reflecting expanded clinical leadership, market oversight, and performance impact. Market Lead Dentists are eligible for a monthly market performance bonus tied to clinical quality, provider development, and studio KPIs across their full market portfolio. What You’ll Do Clinical Excellence & Scope of Practice Deliver a full spectrum of high-quality clinical services—including restorative care such as inlays/onlays, crowns, veneers, endodontics, extractions, implants, and cosmetic dentistry—within Tend’s modern, digitally enabled studio environment Treat a dynamic mix of cases that go beyond basic dentistry, with opportunities to perform comprehensive, esthetic, and function-driven care Lead comprehensive exams that diagnose the whole person — every member leaves aware of their dental conditions and potential solutions in a way that is clear, confident, and efficient Develop thoughtful, member-centered treatment plans grounded in legitimate clinical findings and honest risk assessment, driving both oral health outcomes and case acceptance Diagnose and treat TMJ-related conditions, including the delivery of therapeutic Botox as part of a comprehensive care approach Be a Profession Leader in Clear Aligner and Sleep Therapy Identify and address malocclusion, occlusal wear, fracture lines, and sleep-disordered breathing early — using our tested frameworks, not scripts, to educate members compassionately and help them avoid more invasive, costly outcomes down the road Drive adoption and growth of clear aligner treatment, from diagnosis through case planning, bonding, and follow-up care Evaluate and treat members for sleep-disordered breathing, incorporating sleep medicine solutions into treatment planning where appropriate Build proficiency in aligner case selection, staging, and execution, contributing to a high-performing aligner program Partner with clinical leadership to expand advanced treatment offerings and continuously elevate clinical scope Productivity, Flow & Patient Experience Manage a dynamic, productive schedule—balancing operative procedures, hygiene checks, aligner starts, and same-day treatment opportunities Be schedule obsessed by partnering with studio teams to build efficient and productive shifts—reviewing schedules in advance, strategizing in daily huddles, and offering same-day care when possible Drive production through proactive diagnosis, completion of full treatment plans, and efficient use of chair time—without compromising quality of care Deliver a hospitality-driven member experience grounded in the Three C’s — Personalized Care, Empowering Communication, and Human Compassion — bridging the knowledge gap so members understand not just what, but why Hold the line on our Priority Framework: safety first, then outstanding member experience, then efficiency — never trading one for another Team Collaboration & Studio Performance Partner closely with dental assistants, hygienists, and studio leadership to deliver coordinated, high-quality care Collaborate across disciplines to ensure alignment in treatment planning, execution, and patient experience Engage in ongoing clinical development, including calibration, CE, and peer learning to expand scope and skillset Clinical Leadership & Market Ownership Serve as the senior clinical leader across your market, setting the standard for diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient experience at every studio Own clinical outcomes across locations — track re-dos, escalations, and quality metrics by studio and implement targeted improvement plans Partner with market operations leadership to align clinical strategy with studio performance goals, scheduling efficiency, and patient access Lead market-level calibration sessions, clinical forums, and peer learning to build consistency and elevate the clinical floor Represent Tend clinically in market-level conversations with key partners, community providers, or referral relationships Provider Development & Team Performance Develop and mentor Lead Dentists across your market, coaching them on clinical judgment, studio ownership, and team leadership Support the growth of Associate Dentists through structured feedback, onboarding oversight, and ongoing clinical development Partner with the People Team and clinical leadership on provider hiring, onboarding, and performance management within your market Identify and close skill gaps at the provider level through observation, calibration, and individualized development planning Help build a pipeline of strong Lead Dentists ready to grow into expanded roles within Tend Who You Are You embody our Tend values and demonstrate key competencies that ensure both patient success and team excellence. At Tend, these values aren’t just words on a wall — they are essential to how we hire, lead, and collaborate. Every dentist and team member is expected to show up with a mindset grounded in our mission, vision, and values. This is what drives our culture, our clinical standards, and the patient experience we’re proud to deliver every day. Develop the People Around You — You invest in Lead Dentists and Associates the way you invest in your own clinical growth. You give direct, actionable feedback and create the conditions for others to step up. Own the Outcomes — You're accountable for what happens clinically in your market — not just your own chair. You monitor performance across locations, connect dots across studios, and act when standards slip.
