Duration: School Semester

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hours: 3 days a week - 5 hour days

Reports: Chief Information Officer

Job Summary

The IT Intern is an entry-level, unpaid temporary internship opportunity designed for someone who is interested in learning more about information technology in a professional setting. In this role, the intern will assist the IT team with basic technical support, computer setup, troubleshooting, documentation, inventory, and small technology projects. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience, build confidence, ask questions, and develop practical IT skills while supporting daily technology needs across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-User Support: Provide technical support to employees for hardware, software, and network-related issues; assist with troubleshooting and resolving IT support tickets.
  • Hardware and Software Setup: Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, printers, peripheral devices, and common business applications.
  • Network and Systems Support: Support network administration tasks, monitor connectivity and performance, perform routine maintenance, and complete system health checks.
  • Security and Compliance: Assist with software updates, system backups, security procedures, and compliance with company IT policies and security standards.
  • Documentation and Inventory: Help maintain IT documentation, inventory records, user guides, and related reporting.
  • Projects and Deployments: Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and technology deployments.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.
  • Business Applications: Familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Office, and common business applications.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Communication: Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Systems Administration: Knowledge of Active Directory, cloud platforms, or related administration tools.
  • Cybersecurity: Understanding of cybersecurity principles and basic security practices.
  • Device Support: Experience troubleshooting computers and mobile devices.
  • Networking: Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications or coursework are a plus.
