Full Stack Developer

Title: Full Stack Developer Duration: 4 Months Location: New York, NY 10007 (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite and 2 Days Remote/Week) Job Description: Full-Stack Application Development Develop FOIL Open Records application using Python-based frameworks such as Flask and Django Build RESTful APIs for application functionality and integrations Implement backend logic, authentication, and business rules integrating with FOIL workflows Develop reusable, modular, and well-documented code for maintainability and scalability Perform integration activities Database Design & Data Management Design and develop relational databases using PostgreSQL and MySQL Create database queries, and schema design Perform data modelling activities for application requirements Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with applicable standards Work on data migration tasks from legacy systems to modern platforms Cloud, DevOps & Containerized Development Develop and deploy applications using Docker containerization Run CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment Create shell scripts to automate development and operational tasks System Integration & Search Technologies Integrate applications with external and internal systems using APIs Implement search capabilities using technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene Create indexes for retrieval of records data for FOIL Open Records application Code Quality, Review & Collaboration Participate in peer code reviews and provide feedback on Python and JavaScript code Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and secure development guidelines Use Git/GitHub for version control, branching strategies, and collaborative development Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, analysts, and infrastructure staff Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and tooling Deliverables Functional web application modules for the Open Records FOIL system, including front-end and back-end components RESTful API services for application functionality and integrations Database schemas, optimized data models, and data structures Full-text search functionality, including indexing, query handling, and search result presentation for public records access Reporting and analytics dashboard, providing visibility into FOIL request activity, system usage, and operational metrics Containerized application deployments using Docker for development, testing, and production environments Technical documentation, including system design, API documentation, and workflow descriptions Agile development artifacts including user stories, estimates, sprint deliverables, and acceptance criteria support Code review feedback and participation in quality assurance and secure coding practices Mandatory Skills/Experience Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered 5+ years of experience in front-end web application design and development and the following: Experience developing responsive and accessible web applications Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS , and modern front-end frameworks Experience with Python development using Flask and/or Django Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL and MySQL databases Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs Experience with Docker containerization and cloud-based deployments Experience with Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development Familiarity with Elasticsearch , Solr , or Lucene search technologies Experience writing shell scripts and working in Linux/UNIX environments Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Experience working with legacy system modernization and application migration Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines Highly collaborative and effective in cross-functional Agile teams Compu-Vision Consulting
