Step into a supportive school environment and make a difference for K-6th grade students as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Intellectual Disabilities and Autism. This full-time, contract opportunity offers a dynamic classroom with a manageable caseload of 8 students, and you’ll be part of a dedicated team, including two paraprofessionals, focused on meaningful growth and inclusion.

Your classroom is mainly self-contained, providing structure and routines individualized to student needs. At the same time, you’ll facilitate student participation in adaptive art, music, physical education, and enable inclusion in grade-level science and social studies classes as appropriate. Your role is pivotal in ensuring a welcoming learning experience where every student’s strengths are valued.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching credentials
• Experience working with K-6 students with intellectual disabilities and/or autism
• Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Positive classroom management strategies
• Ability to work effectively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for each student
• Provide instruction and modifications tailored to individual learning needs
• Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom atmosphere
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and general education staff
• Promote inclusive opportunities by supporting students in participating with peers during specials and selected academic subjects
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
