Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Pay Range: $41.66 - $58.69 Responsibilities Provide professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and evidence‑based practice. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care. Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, and monitor patient responses. Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy. Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care. Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs. Deliver culturally responsive, patient‑centered care. Coordinate care with providers and interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal outcomes, safety, and positive patient experience. Advocate for patient care and assist patients in navigating the healthcare system. Participate in quality and performance improvement activities, maintain required competencies and certifications, and report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions per policy. Serve as a circulator nurse by preparing the patient, verifying documentation, ensuring equipment readiness, completing safety checklists, and facilitating communication among the surgical team. Support the sterile field by documenting key intraoperative events and maintaining situational awareness. Participate in on‑call coverage to support urgent and emergent surgical cases. Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff, support orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers, and float to other departments or assignments as needed. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska. Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within six (6) months of hire. Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter. High‑risk competency required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter. For specialty areas, appropriate specialty‑specific and advanced certifications must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods; perform bending, stooping, and kneeling; work in moderate‑to‑high noise clinical environment.
