Communications CoordinatorResponsibilities of this position will include:Strategizing, reviewing, editing, and producing communications materials for distribution to target audiences.Assisting with web page design, maintenance, and content management.Researching and conducting interviews to generate materials for traditional and digital media.Creating and scheduling social media content.Taking initiative and working independently on select projects.Assisting in the training and mentorship of student employees and/or interns.Generating reports on content effectiveness and modifying strategies based on data-driven insights.Representing the Honors College at designated events.Collaborating with other parts of the Honors College, such as the Distinguished Student Awards Office, to assist with their specific communications and marketing needs.Other duties as assigned.Skills in all areas are not expected or required to be a strong candidate.NOTE: Although this position is designated as remote-friendly, it is expected the position will be hybrid, with the role having 1-2 days per week spent on the East Lansing Campus as mutually agreed upon with the supervisor.Minimum Requirements:Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Telecommunications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in internal communications; news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation software; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications:Specialized experience in either journalism, videography, photography, web development, social media, or graphic designExperience in Adobe Creative Cloud, Wordpress, or social media scheduling softwareKnowledge of AP Style best practicesStrong writing and proofreading skillsMultiple years of professional experience in a related roleEqual Employment Opportunity Statement:All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, age, disability or protected veteran status.Required Application Materials:Resume or CVBrief cover letter expressing interest in the positionCreative portfolio, or links to 3-5 work samplesWork Hours:STANDARD 8-5 Michigan State University
