The OR Technologist Team Lead facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures for all surgical service lines. 3 / 12 hours shifts; Nights; flex days could include weekends.

Responsibilities:

Handles, labels, and processes surgical specimens according to established protocols for safe and accurate delivery to the laboratory.

Prepares the operating room by setting up sterile fields with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies tailored to each case.

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently during procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique.

Collaborate with the sterile processing team to decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies.

Contributes to a safe and supportive environment by adhering to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards.

Verifies that surgical instruments and equipment are functioning properly and promptly reports or addresses any issues.

Monitors and accounts for instruments, sponges, and supplies throughout each procedure to ensure patient safety.

Assists nursing staff in direct patient care, including preparation, transport, positioning, and draping of patients for surgery.

Precept and mentor new staff members, fostering skill development and support orientation and onboarding.

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in an operating room including one year of Level I Trauma experience required. Vascular and Neuro experience strongly preferred.
