Senior Data Scientist
W.W. Grainger, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Scientist in Lake Forest, IL. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Applied Analytics, Operations Research, Applied Science or Engineering or related field plus 3 years of related experience. The position requires skills in building and executing complex queries to pull data from SQL databases, creating Python scripts to identify patterns, trends and relationships within the data, performing exploratory and statistical analysis to generate insights for management teams, and creating predictive models to improve operational efficiency, enhance cost savings and reduce human error. The role also involves research into alternative development methodologies, building dashboards in visualization tools like Tableau, and using Natural Language processing to summarize notes and gain insight into hidden trends. Proficiency with databases, querying languages, programming languages, data visualization techniques, and machine learning techniques is essential. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to translate analytical work into presentations suitable for non-technical audiences and collaborate with business partners and colleagues. Up to 70% remote work is allowed. Compensation for this position ranges from $103,600 to $172,600, depending on factors such as work location, relevant experience, and skills.
