A rapidly growing, private equity-backed provider of engineered building systems, equipment, and technical services has partnered with Conexus to add a Director of Accounting / Regional Finance Lead to its Florida operations. The broader organization generates more than $2B in annual revenue, employs 1,000+ people, and has expanded aggressively through acquisitions. The Florida region includes recently acquired businesses that are being integrated into a larger national platform, creating an opportunity to establish the accounting infrastructure, processes, and controls needed to support continued growth.

Purpose Of Your Position:

The Director of Accounting / Regional Finance Lead will serve as the senior finance and accounting presence for the Florida region, taking ownership of the accounting function across recently acquired operations. This is a highly autonomous, hands-on leadership role responsible for strengthening the close, improving financial visibility, building scalable processes, supporting ERP migration, and acting as the primary connection between regional operations and Corporate Accounting. The role will also partner closely with sales and operational leadership while helping integrate the businesses into the larger organization. Primary Responsibilities:

• Own regional accounting operations, including the general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, billing, collections, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Provide hands-on oversight of project accounting across a high-volume portfolio of active jobs, including job costing, WIP, cost allocations and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Maintain an ASC 606-compliant revenue environment and oversee accounting for project-specific sales commissions and related accruals.
• Review monthly results, investigate material variances and provide Corporate Accounting and regional leadership with clear insight into business performance.
• Establish stronger accounting procedures, internal controls and segregation of duties across recently acquired operations.
• Serve as the regional accounting leader during the migration of legacy entities onto Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, partnering with corporate systems and consolidation resources throughout implementation.
• Standardize accounting practices, reporting structures and close procedures across multiple entities while improving the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
• Partner directly with regional sales and operational leadership on project economics, margins, commissions and other financial matters impacting business performance.
• Lead and develop local accounting resources while remaining willing to work directly within billing, collections, AP and other transactional areas when necessary.
• Support the financial integration of acquired businesses, identifying accounting gaps and implementing scalable processes as the organization continues its acquisition strategy.
• Coordinate with Corporate Accounting, external auditors and other stakeholders on audit support, compliance requirements and financial reporting matters.
• Operate independently as Corporate Accounting’s primary finance representative in the region, proactively identifying issues and implementing improvements without requiring significant day-to-day oversight.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with meaningful hands-on operational accounting responsibility.
• Experience leading accounting for multiple entities, locations or business units.
• Strong project accounting, job costing and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition experience.
• Background within construction services, HVAC, mechanical contracting, building products, distribution or another project-oriented environment strongly preferred.
• Experience participating in ERP implementations or financial systems migrations; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, internal controls and segregation of duties.
• Demonstrated ability to build or improve accounting processes rather than solely operate within an established structure.
• Experience supervising and developing accounting personnel.
• Ability to work independently in an acquisition-driven, evolving environment and partner effectively with both corporate and operational leadership.
• CPA preferred but not required.
